On the Road to the New School Year Together with the Children of Plovdiv

On September 15th, Plovdiv welcomed the first day of school with plenty of children’s smiles, curiosity, and high spirits. For the third consecutive year, “European Roads” took part in the “To School with Maritsa” initiative – organized by the Maritsa newspaper – turning its encounter with young visitors into a game centered on roads and the people who build them.

This year, the “European Roads” challenge began with a puzzle – or rather, four of them. Children had to find the exact spot for each piece to assemble images of actual road sections constructed by the company. Through play, the young participants gained a unique insight into some of the projects that embody the hard work, experience, and professionalism of the “European Roads” teams.

The opportunity to see the world of road construction up close sparked the greatest curiosity. The “European Roads” excavator and road roller captured the children’s attention; they had the chance to climb into the real machinery and briefly view the world from the perspective of the professionals who operate them every day.

The hands-on experience with the machinery and the puzzle games demonstrated, in an accessible way, just how many elements must come together to build a road. Behind the finished result lie people, machinery, engineering solutions, precision, and teamwork – a vast, intricate puzzle where every piece plays a vital role.

“European Roads’” third consecutive participation in the “Back to School with Maritsa” initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to introducing children to the professions behind modern infrastructure in a way that is both engaging and accessible. And on the first day of the new school year, the message is especially fitting: every great journey begins with the curiosity to discover where the next step leads.
