Response of “European Roads” to the Anti-Corruption Fund
In response to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that “European Roads” AD is carrying out the construction and repair activities on the Trakia Motorway in its capacity as an official subcontractor of the state-owned company “Avtomagistrali” EAD on the basis of concluded contractual relations. Moreover, at the level of public procurement, “European Roads” AD was nominated by “Avtomagistrali” EAD as an official subcontractor.
Our company has many years of experience in the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and the necessary engineering, technical and organizational capacity for the implementation of such projects with a high degree of complexity and short implementation deadlines.
Within the framework of the assigned activities, “European Roads” AD carried out the rehabilitation of three sections of the Trakia Motorway – in the regions of Pazardzhik and Stara Zagora with a total length of 37.74 km. In less than a month, over 430,000 sq. m of existing pavement were milled, nearly 150,000 tons of asphalt mixtures and nearly 425,000 sq. m of reinforcement mesh were laid. For this purpose, the construction works were organized in such a way as to minimize traffic restrictions on one of the busiest roads in the country at the height of the summer season. Significant expert, technical and machine resources were mobilized for the implementation of this large-scale repair, which allowed the site to be completed in just 26 calendar days.
For the implementation of the repair, our company engaged additional specialized machine resources from external contractors, which is standard practice in the implementation of infrastructure projects of similar scale and intensity.
It should be noted that despite the contractual deadline for implementation until 31.07.2026, all repair activities were completed ahead of schedule, qualitatively and in full compliance with the assigned technical requirements. The result of the construction and repair works carried out is publicly visible and is already used daily by Bulgarians and foreigners who travel along the renovated sections of the Trakia Motorway.
