“EUROPEAN ROADS” INSPIRED THE CHILDREN OF PLOVDIV TO DRAW THEIR FAVORITE ROAD

On 12 September, the centre of Plovdiv was transformed into a colourful and lively scene where knowledge met play and curiosity met new challenges. For the second consecutive year, European Roads took part in the “To School with Maritsa” initiative, organized by the Maritsa newspaper and aimed at the youngest children, with the idea of turning the preparation for the first day of school into a real adventure.

The aim of the event was to give children the opportunity to unleash their imagination and at the same time get a taste of the real world of road construction. The creative competition “Draw us your favorite road” aroused particular interest among the little ones, who put a lot of imagination into the process. The winner of the game, 10-year-old Rada Markova from Plovdiv, won the grand prize, the European Roads Bear.

The young visitors had the opportunity to climb onto real machines – an excavator and a roller – to get a feel for the road construction profession, which builds safe and modern infrastructure on a daily basis. Through fun and practical examples, they learned more about the processes behind construction – from the idea and planning to the implementation. The initiative showed that roads are not just asphalt and markings, but the result of the work of a number of serious professionals.

By participating in the European Roads event, it demonstrates its consistent commitment to the younger generation – by sparking interest in knowledge, encouraging creativity, and revealing how responsible and significant the role of infrastructure projects is for the country’s development. Among the smiling faces of the children, there may be future engineers and specialists who, years from now, will build Bulgaria’s modern roads.
